Prior to my foray into journalism, I was (and still am) lead singer for 80's hit band 'Modern Romance'. My main objective on a daily basis is to secure as many live shows, radio interviews and more - and encounter as many agents and promoters along the way, to push the name of our band ever forward.
In the process of amassing contacts and friends during this process I was encouraged to take a look at writing in a whole new way, other than simply penning new songs.
My first attempts were met with encouragement, and after a few simple editing tips my work was published. This lead to more articles being submitted and accepted to a gathering of publications.
A year on and I am now the proud bearer of a press card and have written several online reviews, concentrating on culinary and travel assignments, while dipping my toes into movies, extraordinary people and some light hearted pieces without too much focused direction.
I am ecstatic to have woken up to a possibility which I truly hadn't considered. My superb writing style and demonic wit would have passed the world by!
I have the first in a series of childrens' books completed and continue to transcribe the personal diaries kept throughout the 80's during the heyday of Modern Romance, ready for publishing.
